Watching Zane throw is addictive! I try to pick my jaw up off the floor, but it's not an easy task. Get thee to a summer art program, Zane! Oh, and wanna take ceramics again next year? :)

Wow, Maddy! I blinked, and you learned to throw! I only wish my first bowl looked like this when I was just starting... Have I mentioned, that I love my job?

Finishing Up

The ceramics class adds the finishing touches to their coil pots as we move into the next assignment, birdhouses and lanterns. Stay tuned for pics!

Allison often comes in on her own time to make her artwork the best it can be. Although she has taken on quite the challenge here, I think we'd all agree she has created a fine specimen of a piece! Impressive, Allison!

Zooooommmm.... Art 3-4

Julian continues to add contrast and value to his "zoom" drawing of a vintage brownie camera. What an eye for design! The learning curve of these kids is enough to give me whiplash.

As Cosmo forges ahead on his drawing of a watch, I learn the true meaning of consistency. Everything this kid touches turns to Gold. I'm thinking of handing him my credit card bill, just to see what happens.

Shaela continues to brighten the studio as she works. Her sunny disposition, even while tackling new media, always impresses me. And what great results she achieves!

A Good Day

Well, holiday cheer arrived in class today...
Not only did we receive our new technology (doc camera and projector), but we heard that we will be receiving the much needed funds to update our ceramics facility!!! Thank you to Paul Cook for his undying support of the arts. I expect to return the program to the cone 6 midfire range, allowing us to use the beautiful earthy glazes that we've so reluctantly abandoned.

Coil Pots

Kelsey seems to add just the right amount of "flare" to her work, showing off her strength in independent thinking! Nice job, Kelsey!

Isabella displays her fabulous coil pot. I'm always amazed at her attention to detail and craftsmanship. Great job, Isabella!!

Gennie seems to transform everything she touches into a masterpiece. By the end of the year, I expect to see her selling her work in boutiques. :) This piece is still in progress.
